Billy serves as Associate Pastor of Discipleship & Students, beginning in 2024. He has been a part of the Coastal Oaks team in September 2014 as an intern in Student Ministry before becoming our Student Ministry Director in July 2015.  Billy's primary desire is to build teams & craft environments to help students lay a foundation for becoming lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ.   He grew up in Rockport, came to faith in Christ through the student ministry here at Coastal Oaks, & is now living out what he believes God has called him to do - to take the Gospel to Jr. High & High School students. In 2021, Billy accepted an area director position with Fellowship of Christian Athletes where he served until Nov. 2024.

Billy married his high school sweetheart, Cayla, in 2012. They welcomed their first daughter, Ellie Jo in 2022 and their second daughter, Georgie in 2024. He enjoys disc golf and Houston Texan football.

Josh joined the leadership here in May 2026.J He has served in the local church in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas in Student Ministry and Worship Ministry roles since 2004. He has been involved in missions in all of the churches he has served and bring a passion to see people “Go, make disciples” starting right here at home and going as far as the Lord leads them. He believes that worship ministry is an important ministry of the church because of how people connect with music. He desires to see the church worship through music as a response to the truth and goodness they know about the Lord from His word and His presence in their lives. 

Josh is currently working toward his Masters Degree in Theology from Gateway Seminary of the Southern Baptist Convention. He was licensed to ministry in 2017 and ordained in 2019. 

Josh has been married to Sarah since 2012, and they have three sons, Tallant, Tyler and Traysen. Together they enjoy camping, being outside, Rangers baseball, and anything the boys may be involved in.

Verna Ashcraft serves as our Office Administrator and Logistics Coordinator, having served at Coastal Oaks since 1999 in a variety of ministry roles.  She has a background in leadership, administration, & education & has served for many years in various roles in the Church, public & private schools & civic organizations.

Verna married her high school sweetheart, Kevin, in 1979 & they have two married daughters and five grandchildren.  She is also a breast cancer survivor.

Laura Brotzman joined the team at Coastal Oaks Church in October 2020 as Financial Secretary, bringing her ~10 years of experience in professional human resources to benefit the work of the local church. 

Laura has 2 grown daughters, multiple "bonus kids," & in her free time she enjoys reading and riding her Harley.

Gaye joined the team at Coastal Oaks Church in April 2025, serving as our Kid's Ministry Director. 

She and her husband, John have been married for 25 years and moved to Rockport in 2021.  They have 2 married daughters and 4 grandkids.

Brandon joined the team at Coastal Oaks in October 2019 as Custodian, taking care of the week-to-week cleaning responsibilities. He also volunteers on our Worship Team as an Audio Tech.

Brandon is a 2020 Rockport-Fulton High School graduate, an Eagle Scout, & enjoys serving with his hands.
