What to expect

When you're at Coastal Oaks, we want you to feel comfortable in your own skin. Visiting a new church is much less enjoyable, after all, if you spend all of your time trying to figure out how to fit in.

Here's a brief look at what you can expect on your first (or next) visit . . .

Parking is located on site at our 7-acre campus, with handicapped parking conveniently located in front of our Worship Center/Office building, and behind our Worship Center/Office building, granting easy sidewalk access to both the worship/office/children's ministry areas and our gymnasium. All parking at COC is easily accessible from FM 3036.

We have even asked our every-week members/attenders to park on the outer skirts of the parking lot or next door at Oak Crest Nursing Center (with permission) so that our guests are given the courtesy to park in the closest spots.

The atmosphere at Coastal Oaks is very casual. On any given Sunday, you'll see men and women of all ages wearing polo shirts, sandals, skirts, blue jeans, shorts, slacks, suits, and what we call "coastal camo" - the ever-popular coastal or Hawaiian print button up shirt.

. . . you'll find comfy, padded seats, ample lighting for both worship and Bible study, and wireless listening assistance devices for those that require such (request at the sound booth). We maintain a clean stage so as to minimize distractions, and we make use of projection technology, shooting dual screens on the wall behind the stage for lyrical assistance and teaching reinforcement.

. . . at Coastal Oaks are truly a unique experience! We want to celebrate the goodness of God, so our music is a unique blend of praise & reflection, modern & classic, and always sound in theology. You'll hear a variety of instrumentation, including piano, keyboards, organ, acoustic & electric guitars, bass, drums, and alternate percussion (djembe, chimes, etc.). Our worship choir is also a part of most services, as is clapping, lifting hands, kneeling/bowing, prayer, singing, Bible teaching, and application/reflection.

Our teaching Pastors at COC take great care in creating an authentic worship experience, and the teaching time is reflective of that as well. We offer sermon notes that you can pick up on the way to your seat so that you can follow along and retain more of what we study each Sunday. At the very least, you can take a bit of Coastal Oaks home with you!

We do not take time each week to pause the worship service to take up an offering. You will find four (4) offering boxes conveniently located in the Worship and Welcome Centers where you may drop your tithe or financial gift as God leads.

We also do not use hymnals. It's not that we dislike them - we simply use them as one musical referrence book among many.
